The manufacturing process of semiconductor components can be divided into two major projects: wafer processing in the first stage and packaging and testing in the second stage. In the whole process of post packaging test production, the test sorter occupies a pivotal position. Next, Xiaobian will share with you the technical indicators involved in the selection of semiconductor test separator, hoping to help you
The technical indicators for the selection of semiconductor testing and sorting equipment can be divided into three parts: basic indicators, general indicators and special indicators
1、 Basic indicators
Basic indicators refer to the basic requirements for supporting equipment operation
1. Input power and energy consumption
Different countries supply different electricity standards. The input power supply has two parameters: power supply voltage and frequency. We generally use single-phase 220V 50Hz AC or 380V 50Hz AC. If the equipment voltage cannot meet the demand, an external frequency converter or transformer is required, which will not only generate additional costs, but also affect the flexibility of the production line equipment planning
Energy consumption is a response to the energy utilization rate of equipment. If the energy consumption is high, the electricity charges will be high, and the enterprise cost will rise
2. Input fluid
The commonly used input fluids for semiconductor equipment include compressed air, vacuum, other industrial gases, cooling water and deionized water. The input fluid has two parameters: pressure and flow. The pressure cannot exceed the company's supply conditions. The flow is the fluid volume consumed by the equipment in the standby state and production state in a unit time. A large flow is high in cost
3. Appearance dimension
The larger the external dimensions of the equipment, the larger the occupied building area, and the higher the land occupation cost and lighting and air conditioning cost, on the contrary, the lower the land occupation cost and lighting and air conditioning cost
4. Net weight of equipment and contact area. Due to the requirement of cleanliness, many semiconductor companies use overhead structures, which have high requirements for bearing weight and pressure per unit area. If the net weight of the equipment and the ground contact area cannot meet the requirements, the company needs to strengthen the ground additionally, which will result in increased costs
5. Working environment
The working environment includes air cleanliness, ambient temperature and relative humidity. The cleanliness of the test part of the finished semiconductor products is in the order of one million, the temperature is controlled within the range of 23 ℃± 3 ℃, and the relative humidity is controlled within the range of 50% ± 5%. Basically, all test equipment can work in the above environment. If the equipment has special environmental requirements, the company must build a small environment in a special area, with a large investment
2、 General indicators
1. Feeding method
There are three storage methods for semiconductor semi-finished products to be transferred to the testing department after the completion of the next process, corresponding to the three feeding methods of the sorter. Since the three feeding methods are quite different and difficult to replace in the later stage, it is necessary to determine before equipment manufacturing
2. Blanking method
There are generally three types of blanking methods: material tray, plastic pipe and carrier belt storage. Shenzhen Keda Semiconductor will select different blanking methods in advance according to customer needs
3. Product Type
There are more than 30 types of semiconductor packages, such as small outline package, quad lead package, ball grid array package, etc. Some package types can share one device, but some package types can only use special devices. On the premise that the product packaging type is determined, the corresponding equipment model must be selected as the alternative equipment
4. Product size
In the same package type, the size of semiconductor products will also change, generally expressed in terms of product length, width and height. In the production and operation process, the equipment needs to support different sizes of products according to the production plan. The wider the size range of products, the higher the flexibility of equipment. At present, the test sorter of Shenkeda Semiconductor is of comprehensive size in the industry, from the smallest DFN0603 to the largest 8 * 8, and MSOP/TO252/TO263/TO247 and other packaging forms can use our equipment
5. Transposition time
The transposition time is a very important indicator of the test sorter, which refers to the time required for the sorter to transfer the current product from the test bit to the next station and put it into the next product to be tested. The transposition time is inversely proportional to the hourly output of the equipment. When the test time is very short, the transposition time of the equipment has a greater impact on the output per hour
6. Parallel same measurement number
The number of parallel and same tests represents the maximum number of products that can be tested simultaneously by the equipment at the same time. The SKD980 test sorter of Shenkeda Semiconductor can support up to 8 stations of test+double taping, which can not only meet the requirements of multi-function test sorting, but also meet the selection requirements of more stations
7. Communication mode
The communication mode is the way to exchange information when the sorter is working cooperatively. There are three commonly used modes: RS-232C, TTL and GPIB. During the equipment selection, several communication modes shall be selected according to the company's use situation. Don't excessively pursue the technicality of equipment and select all communication modes that are not needed in actual production, resulting in unnecessary cost investment. It should be noted that for the communication mode that may be used in the future, the equipment can be upgraded when it is actually used
8. Equipment failure rate
This indicator is generally measured by MTBA and MTBF. If MTBA and MTBF are high, the efficiency of the equipment will decline, and the available time within the life cycle of the equipment will be reduced
9. Man machine interface
Whether the human-computer interface of the device is friendly and easy to operate
3、 Special indicators
Special indicators exist due to different types of semiconductor sorters. Only sorters have special indicators
1、 Visual inspection system
In order to reduce the turnover time of products, many sorters integrate the appearance visual inspection system into the equipment. The visual inspection system is used to check the printing quality, scratch, damage, pin or ball quality of the product surface
2、 Test bit temperature
Semiconductors are generally tested at room temperature. For semiconductor devices with special application needs, the sorter needs to simulate high temperature and low temperature environments to verify the working ability of devices in extreme environments
The equipment selection determines the production efficiency, accuracy and reliability of the equipment, as well as the production applicability, maintenance convenience, use safety, energy utilization, etc. If the model is selected properly, the equipment will operate stably for a long time, the effective utilization rate of the equipment will be improved, the requirements of the product production process for the equipment will be met, and the production will be carried out smoothly under the condition of ensuring the product quality. Otherwise, the orderly production and operation will be affected. Of course, in addition to the above technical indicators, we need to focus on the budget, maintenance fees, and extended services in the later period
